Poltergeist is a 2015 supernatural horror film directed by Gil Kenan and starring Kennedi Clements, Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Saxon Sharbino, and Kyle Catlett. This movie's plot is All seems well for Eric Bowen, wife Amy, and their three children as they move into their new house in the suburbs of Illinois. Soon, youngest daughter Maddy begins talking to an imaginary friend, or so the family thinks. It's not long before sinister spirits wreak havoc in the home, holding Maddy captive and forcing the parents to consult a team of parapsychologists who engage the supernatural entities in a battle for the girl's freedom.
I watched this movie and it scared the crap out of me to the point I had to take a break. Let's get to the scary parts of this movie. The first part is the cult-followed 'they're here' scene where Maddy presses her hands against the television and talks to the television just as Griffin comes down and sees her and then hands pop up on the screen. (Why I'm scared of static TVs). Also, the clown scene where the clown grabs Griffin's foot, the part where the window smashes, the girl almost gets sucked into the black goo and any shot with the aliens in it.
Now the bad parts are the overly extended scene where the girl waves around her phone and checks where the strongest static was (it leads up to a scary part). The movie wasn't scary except 4 parts and a half. Some sequences were dumb to add in there such as the dad at the hardware store and the waving around of 'look how much money I spent' from the dad.
This movie was pretty good. Overall Poltergeist gets a B.
